God bless the creators of android and all the apps that can block some numbers from calling once you label them spam else only God knows what I would have done with my Airtel sim. It’s only proper that I should ask so that I’d be sure we are on the same page.
Have weird numbers called you from Airtel or MTN?
Airtel: 09020869268, 09020869270, 09020869271… the list is endless my dear.
MTN: +2656, short annoying weird numbers, this one too has an endless list.
They’ll now attach one automated message to sell their products in the middle of your busy schedule, in this world where 24 hours is not enough. Sometimes they try to put a real human being at the other end of the phone asking you if you are interested in some weird products that they know you are not interested in. Like it’s not bad enough, they decided to invade the text message zone with numbers like 4100, 5103, 56100, 33114, Airtel, SHARECREDIT, NEEDCREDIT and many more. They advertise Callertunes, businesses, plenty things o, things I can’t even name. I can’t speak for Etisalat or Glo because I have too much going on in my life to involve their own set of ads as a part of my daily routine. When you think you have had it all, someone sells your mail to a “publicist” and boom!!! All sorts of brand ads start pouring into your mail, SCU MOBI, KIAMOTORS NIGERIA, SYCOM TECH, and Spam mails will not cut you some slack in the midst of all this.
DO this people know the meaning of target audience???
Marketers and publicist of brands have taken the idea of publicity too far and somehow they don’t know or choose to ignore the “image of the brand”. There is a difference between a brand manager and a publicist/marketer (I should write a post on this). Cocacola and Apple have engaging ads that communicate their image, intentions and still compel us to buy their products. NOTHING INVASIVE!!! What you do when you engage in all these invasive marketing strategies is, you show your customers that your brand is “petty” and trust me that’s not a good thing. You practically don’t have a brand manager, the brand manager is bad at his/her job or you don’t listen to him/her. You show that you have little regard for your brand image and that there’s no reason for us to have regard for your brand. You show that you are not willing to spend money on legitimate and creative ad and you have disregard or totally lack a brand manager /creative personnel in your establishment. We know some brands are not petty but they are giving us the wrong impression and this has to stop!!!
If only Nigeria was different, I would have ‘served’ some brands, summoned them to court on account of privacy invasion or attempted murder. If I don’t make money by concentrating on my work, I won’t be able to afford your brand, yet you barge into my work place, my private life, meetings, when I’m eating, taking a nap, sleeping, EVERY TIME! You are in my emails, calls, texts!!! Everywhere!!! Like a ghost lurking around, taking jabs on my peace of mind at every chance it gets. I’m still thinking of a way to put a stop to all this. A social media campaign is on my mind honestly. #SayNoToPettyBrands #SayNoToInvasivePublicity.
I said something about attempted murder, you think it’s extreme? It’s not. I’d tell you how…You call a man with heart issues when he’s trying to take a nap? You get people fired from their jobs because you’re incessantly ringing their phones, bombarding them with texts and calls. You give us unnecessary reason to pick up our phones to read through texts and mails and still endure your painstakingly long phone calls daily with automated voices on the other end of our phones telling us about products or tariffs that we don’t need. Too much radiation could be carcinogenic. It’s not healthy to pick calls, stare at our phones and all, as much as you make us do. You’re increasing the risk of health implications by about 30% in my opinion. You should read this, Learn about Cancer and your Cellular Phones, Cell Phones can cause Cancer and Cell Phones and Cancer
Stop murdering people because you’re too broke to afford reputable adverts. Stop causing us pain and harassing us at our work place because of your “pettiness” and your seemingly unbreakable relationship with the norm. Again #ISayNoToInvasivePublicity.
MY MESSAGE TO BRANDS & MARKETERS
