Good *insert morning, afternoon or evening* (it depends on when you are reading this). 2014 seems to be riding on a fast lane, March is already over!!! I hope you are doing something daily to make each day count and make it memorable. Been interacting lately with a lot of people and I got shocking revelations that I want to share with you. Things you may not believe but are true and you are also capable of creating a change!!!
Do you know that some people still feel Africa is a country?
Do you know that many people do not know that real humans live on Africa?
Do you know they do not believe we have real houses and are capable of going to work and drinking coffee, eating good food and practically having a life?
Do you know that they think we live on trees or in the forest?
Do you know that they associate every bad thing with Black?
Do you know that when Africa is mentioned the first picture that comes to mind is this:
An article read by Dee Lee on New York’s radio station
I was at a conference and I watched Chimamanda Adiche speak. She said the truth embedded in several stories. She addressed AFRICANS and the world in a speech she titled “BEYOND THE SINGLE STORY”. Watch the video at the right pane of this blog this week or watch below.
I WOULD LOVE TO JOIN FORCES WITH YOU TO CHANGE THIS SINGLE STORY!!!
WE ARE HUMANS NOT MONKEYS, AFRICA IS A CONTINENT NOT A COUNTRY.
THE WORLD HAS TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE RARE GEMS ON THIS LAND
We have the likes of Usain Bolt, Wole Soyinka, Nelson Mandela, Omotola Kehinde, and many more… you name them. We are great people and the only way the world can know is if you tell them.
Share an African story, tell us a story of your childhood, your life, a friend, an African mentor, a place you love, things that inspire you, your inspirations, your country, what you love about your city, state, country, Africa and Africans, share a different story about Africa to the world. TELL US YOUR AFRICAN STORY!!! You could also write short articles to combat the African story the world has of Africans. ” Beyond the single story”. Poems would be accepted too. Photographers are not left out, share beautiful pictures and attach an African concept to it. Tell your friends, followers and anyone you can tell!!!
Join the #IRAfrica (Illuminate and Reverb Africa) movement. Cast more light on Africa and Africans. Resound new stories of our motherland. We may not be able to change history but soon our present day would become history. Write a new story today and create the history that your children and generation would know and tell as a story.
Send your stories, articles, poems, pictures and contributions to firstname.lastname@example.org and it’ll be posted here. Twitter is not left out… You could share your thoughts and attach #IRAFRICA to it(don’t forget the hashtag)
BE A PART OF #IRAFRICA!!! BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE
