When you want to sign up for anything online or on paper, companies make you fill countless forms and all requesting for your name, birthday, mother’s maiden name, etc. but how do they use all this information to their advantage and create a personal experience that creates a tighter bond between us and them? It just occurred to me that no African/Nigerian brand bothered wishing me a happy birthday on the 16th of October. So, irrespective of all my purchases and business dealings with them, they could careless about special moments in my life or things that matter to me, all they care about is selling and without me they cannot sell, period. All the birthday wishes I got were from foreign brands. I went on ASOS today and they were literally counting down to my next birthday.
As a business owner you have to create an unforgettable experience for your customer that will translate to an unforgettable brand in their minds. The best form of ad is still words of mouth and what triggers this? An experience, a thought, a feeling, something memorable that they want to talk about.
