“If you think you’re too small to make an impact, spend the night in a room with one mosquito”
I’d leave your mind to wander deep into the jungle of possibilities, considering what this mosquito will do to you and how much impact it’ll make on your body, your ears and your day. It is even likely that you’ll leave the whole room for the mosquito.
Hold this thought…
Antique would be separated into 3 parts that’ll come together to make sense soon
- THE ANT MODEL
- TICK MODEL
- AND ANTIQUE MODEL
It’s amazing the wisdom on trail blazing and leadership that you could get from an ant. The ant is tiny but for some reason they are blessed to lift objects twice their weight. They are very selfless creatures. They think of the good of the whole colony not just themselves. This goes a long way to say that to be a successful leader you have to think of others first. In satisfying the needs of others you unconsciously tremendously meet your own needs. Ants have perfect understanding of the benefit of team spirit. The best leaders have effective management skills, to manage their team and produce maximum result. They plan ahead and are capable of turning a desert into a city. They create a nation out of nothing and build empires out of emptiness. They constantly research and explore, and always have alternate plans. They have flaws but have characteristics that a leader/trailblazer could imbibe to make a worldwide statement.
Tick says the clock tick tick all you have to do, do it quick.
Leadership and Impact can be time bound. To be a trailblazer you have to learn to do things at the right time. You can’t aim to be the richest young man in Africa at the age of 50. You can’t decide to relax on any idea you have because someone else might have the exact same idea and if he executes his first, he steals your shine as the pioneer. As a leader you have to understand that actions are time bound and take steps at the right time for appropriate impact.
So finally we are released into the world as new generation leaders, but where do we get to manifest our fresh leadership skills and impact our country or even the world with old people set as leaders everywhere. When you keep doing the same thing the same way, you experience stagnation and deterioration in quality. Young minds and leaders have to eject the old generation to trigger the pouring of new wine to new wine skins. They tell the youth that they are the leaders of tomorrow but tomorrow comes and the youth still do not have the opportunity to lead. The change we want to see is placed in our hands; we just have to effect it. Leadership and impact require fresh ideas or execution of old ideas in new patterns. And when you get old, pass the baton on. If you are scared to pass it on it means you did not replicate and build your leadership virtues in anyone, therefore you have failed as a leader.
There are 3 major lessons.
- Develop yourself first and then develop a team that shares the same passion with you in achieving your goals
- If things are not done at the right time, the essence will be lost. Be time conscious in strategic planning and execution
- Don’t let the old people take over their generation and your generation too. Be the change you want to see.
Start by doing something, make the little impact you can in the place you find yourself but don’t get to comfortable with that position. Keep fighting your way to the top and expand your sphere of influence. The little impact at the bottom will serve as pillars when you eventually get to the top. Don’t die with your wealth of potential. Die spent.
